TUGWELL vs GRACA MACHEL: A COMPARISON
Living in university residences we learn independence, management skills and most importantly: self-discipline (and escape the illogical curfew). Choosing your future career can be daunting, so this comparison of three of UCT’s residences will ensure that you find your perfect home away from home!
Here's a comparison between Tugwell Hall & Graca Machel Hall:
The all-female residence accommodates 406 students. It is only one Jammie away from Upper Campus and a short walk away from Main Road, where you’ll have access to a variety of food places and other convenience stores. First year students are placed in double rooms whereas returning students have the option of staying in a single room.
Fitted with built-in furniture as well as hand basins, Tugwell becomes an instant home away from home. After a hard-hitting day at campus, you are welcome to relax in the Grapevine lounge or participate in cultural activities in a unique venue. Be sure to attend as many gatherings, to ensure that you meet an array of people throughout your university stay.
GRAҪA MACHEL HALL
As it is one of UCT’s most recent residences, you are privileged to experience a more modernised residence. Graҫa Machel is also only one Jammie away from Upper Campus, and walking distance from Main Road. It is about 3 minutes away from a FNB ATM as well as a convenient café to cure your unexpected coffee cravings. The spacious residence offers single and double rooms designed around large courtyards, ensuring cool hang out spots for you and your girls. You have access to bathrooms, a kitchenette as well as a lounges.
The rooms are quite small though, and Graҫa doesn’t have a dining hall. On the bright side, you are able to meet up with even more people when going to a larger residence for meals.
