Four ways to transform your res room, on a budget

Four ways to transform your res room, on a budget

DIY is difficult on a tight budget (no, Suzelle, not everyone can) so we’ve put together a couple of tips to help you brighten up your res room without actually DIYing anything.

1.     Checkers mini plants

Stave off the crushing sense of defeat lingering from the entirety of your varsity career by bumming a couple of these bad boys off your aunties. You can keep them on a windowsill and enjoy feeling like you’ve actually achieved something when they sprout.

2.     Bargain bin pillows

You don’t want to bring a bae to your room and have them see that gross yellowy thing you cry yourself to sleep on every night. Grab a few cheap pillows with that fake satin stuff from the Mr Price Home bargain box and dazzle them with your (in)expensive taste.

3.     Cardboard folders

Yeah, yeah, you don’t actually make notes in class or anything, but those funny folders can make you feel unreasonably productive. Ditch the two-minute noodle packies and lay three of these out on your desk. You won’t actually get more work done, but at least it looks like you’re doing something productive with your time.

4.     A crotchet hospice blanket

Give your room a little Post Malone hobo chic and dig up one of these from a hospice shop. No-one ever wants to keep them and they’re fine once you hang them out of the window for a bit of an airing.
